Thorntree Country Lodge in Oudtshoorn is a Registered Essential Business Service and Covid-19 ready, thus thrilled to welcome back guests. The Management team discussed and implemented a risk adjusted strategy, as outlined by the South African Government. The health and safety of our staff and guests remains our top priority while providing a heart-warming Thorntree experience.


Management

Jeandre Fourie and Donrice Gouws are the Operational- & dedicated Covid-19 Liaison Managers.


Guest arrival & welcome

  • On arrival, guests to use provided hand sanitizer and have their temperature screened.
  • Guest luggage will be disinfected and taken to the rooms by our porters wearing gloves & masks.
  • All staff to wear face masks and gloves, and interaction with guests will be contactless as far as possible and from a safe distance.
  • The welcome briefing to guests to include details of our safety and hygiene measures in place and what is expected of guests during their stay.
  • Face masks to be for sale at reception.


Dining Experience

Our food services continue with the following measures in place:

  • Guests are required to sanitize their hands when entering the restaurant.
  • Restaurant tables to be spaced at least 1.5 meters apart.
  • Communal dining is currently not possible and multiple meal seating to be managed on demand.
  • All meals are plated, regrettably no buffets.


Cleaning of Rooms

  • Guests staying more than one night can advise if they wish to minimize housekeeping to avoid interaction.
  • All housekeeping staff to wear face masks and gloves and use alcohol-based disinfectant while cleaning the rooms.
  • Every room to be sanitized after check-out.


Laundry

  • All laundry staff to wear face masks and gloves.
  • All linen is sun-dried, weather permitting, and ironed.
  • Guests’ laundry to be washed individually.


Communal Areas

  • Hand sanitizer is available in all rooms and restaurant/bar areas.
  • Staff members on duty will regularly disinfect surfaces including tables, counters, rails, etc.
  • Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing.


Staff
We have put in place, the following measures, to protect our staff and guests:

  • Staff is divided into two groups and will only work within their designatedgroup.
  • Staff members were trained on Covid-19 safety measures.
  • All staff will have their temperature screened prior to their shifts.
  • All staff to be provided with masks and gloves.

Suspected Covid-19 Cases
Doctor on Call

  • In the event of a suspected case of COVID-19, person(s) to be immediately transferred to a medical doctor and/or hospital.
